EveryONE Counts

“One”, a play based on the book by Author Kathryn Otoshi.

Narrated by FUF Teen member Brisa Ables, and the Bully, portrayed by FUF Teen member Lucy Mercer.

The play “One” included 9 participants ranging in ages 4-15, from the Children’s Fellowship and Teens, as the story was read to the audience.

…Blue is a quiet color and is bullied by Red, characterized as a hothead who likes to pick on Blue. Yellow, Orange, Green, and Purple don’t like what they see, but what can they do? When no one speaks up, things get out of hand — until One comes along and shows all the colors how to stand up, stand together, and count. As budding young readers learn about numbers, counting, and primary and secondary colors, they also learn about accepting each other’s differences and how it sometimes just takes one voice to make everyone count.

Sunday’s speaker which followed the play was 14 year old Carlisha Young
and her discussion on “Making The Best of Being Bullied”
Standing strong in the mist of being bullied. A book she wrote after experiencing being bullied at school.
A short summary of her talk topics included: #1.It’s ok to be different. #2. Looking on other’s, not just yourself. #3. Finding the beauty of life/ attitude and gratitude.
