The Mission of Mobile Alabama Pride…
To promote pride in, and respect for, the LGBTQ+ community in the greater Mobile region by: Celebrating our culture, commemorating our heritage, dedicating ourselves to the full and permanent achievement of equal rights, fostering diversity and understanding, and promoting a positive image through educational resources to members of the community.
The Fairhope Unitarian Teens and Mobile Unitarian Universalist spent the afternoon handing out flyers and talking to event goers during Mobile’s annual Pride in the Park.
The turnout was great, with lots of support from our LGBT community, numerous vendors, volunteers and fun!
The regular PrideFest will be in April 2017.
Religious spaces haven’t always been welcoming places for all people, especially when it comes to gender and sexuality but for 25 years the Unitarian Universalist Association has worked hard to make sure lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people are full members of our faith communities. Being welcoming means striving for radical inclusion, and creating spaces that honor every part of our identities, backgrounds, and experiences. Click here to find a welcoming congregation near you.
